“New Year, New Me” blah blah blah…yeah, right

The “New Year, New Me” BS is getting ready to start, and here I am ready to jump on the band wagon

again.

Too early?

Have you thought about your resolutions for the New Year yet?

😉

I am always hopeful when a new year approaches, but hey, I’m hopeful almost every moment of my life!

It is so very easy to fall into the “same shit, different day,” pattern, and I feel confident enough to say that many of us discard our resolutions by week two.

At my beautiful age of 48, I have finally started to understand the Less is More train of thought.

Right now we are actively trimming down around our house.

The number of things we don’t use or have forgotten about is appalling.

The number of things we have kept, ‘Just in case’, is ridiculous.

With such an active life, it is hard to keep up with things, and I’m sick to death of dusting knick-knacks that our eyes have become so used to, we never notice them unless they are in our way or the cats knock them over.

We honestly don’t even need half of the furniture we have.

It is time to throw stuff out and donate the useful things.

I love this quote below:

“If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
― William Morris

Sit down for this next part, because if you know anything about me, you KNOW I love my clothes, skin care and makeup products!

I AM TRIMMING ALL OF THOSE DOWN TOO!

I do NOT need five pairs of black dress pants.

I do NOT need 50 shades of red lipstick!

I do NOT need all of these clothes!

Now, on my leggings, I’m going to have to keep ALL of those! Sorry, maybe next year I will donate some. (ha,ha no)

I draw the line at giving up any of my leggings.

In my house, we value time.

Time together,

time to enjoy your own interests,

time to just…be…

I seriously want to minimize as much as possible.

Oh, and socks!

Warm, fuzzy socks, cute socks with cats on them and other unique designs.

I cannot give those up either.

They are functional after all, right?

For our tv room I’m thinking of getting rid of the love seat and obnoxiously large chair, and keeping only the couch.

We are such floor and pillow people in my family.

Ugh…and coffee tables and end tables that just collect bits and pieces of our lives…

On another, less materialistic note, my goal for the New Year and the rest of my life, is to live my life in such a way that I do not need to make any Resolutions.

I want to slow down my life some, and not get involved in so many things.

I want to spend more time with family.

I want to spend more time with my friends, including my on-line only ones.

I want to spend more time sitting with a good book while drinking a hot cup of coffee.

I want to spend more time hiking and horseback riding.

…and spending a weekend doing nothing but watching movies and playing board games with my family.

I realize I do NOT have to do it all.

I realize I do NOT have to be it all.

The years pass by so very quickly, and I think it’s time for ALL of us to re-evaluate what is most important in our lives.

So, how about you?

Any hopes, dreams and plans for the New Year?

As always, I love you and wish the best for you!

I would love your feed back on this as I’m always looking for new ideas!
